Introduction

My name is Andrey Nikitin.

I run the agency Slovoforma®, develop brand strategies and create verbal identity systems based on them: names, taglines and lexical styles.

A view on things

I believe that the right words are a rare commodity. They don't appear out of nowhere. They are flesh of human flesh.

The right words grow from experience, thoughts and convictions. For them to appear, someone must think clearly, act meaningfully and be able to transfer sensory experience onto paper.

Handling many words is craft. A few — mastery. One — art.

I strive to make do with one.

My people

I work with people who understand that words can solve complex tasks: inspire, persuade and make people fall in love with what you do.

Since 2007 I have been involved in over a hundred projects. I've worked with IT companies, universities, developers, restaurants, fitness clubs, clinics and private charitable foundations.

These different businesses had one thing in common — their teams' belief in the power of the word.

From craft to mastery

I used to think you could do everything at once. Life proved otherwise.

To reach a high level, you need to choose a point of application for your efforts. The smaller the point — the more pressure you can apply to it.

I chose my point — naming.

To better understand how it works and how it fits into the brand system, I learned from the best:

  • strategy at the Wordshop communications academy and Mads international school;
  • naming at author course;
  • identity at the Typomania school with Erken Kagarov
  • writing at Creative Writing School.

Here's what I understood.

Name — the main constant of a brand

A company may have no logo, brand style or website. But it cannot exist without a name.

The tax office won't register an LLC without a name. When registering a sole proprietorship — it will take the entrepreneur's name.

You will need a strong name if:

  • you're launching a new brand or product;
  • your current name limits business development;
  • you want to register a trademark.

And such names I create.

Work process

The process looks like this:

  2. I immerse myself in the project →
  3. I gather the lexical field →
  4. I form a primary list of names →
  5. I filter out weak options →
  6. I refine the strong ones →
  7. I verify the final ones with a patent attorney →
  8. I create a list of three protectable names to choose from →
  9. I deliver one name to you, ready for registration.

Predictable result

In the end you will get a precise and protectable name.

For example: Nexper, Sportcode, Sadeo, Slovoforma, Bonbonery, Rodnoj.

If needed — also the brand's lexical style, described in clear do's and don'ts rules.
